The Scranton Prep intramural bowling
league is the longest running, intramural, co-ed sports activity
at Scranton Prep. The goal of the league is to teach students
a lifelong activity and provide opportunities for socialization
in a fun-filled environment. The league is run by Mr. Hewitt,
the Director of Admissions, and has a number of faculty participants
and proctors. It is open to all students in all four years and
teams are often mixed by gender and by years.
The Scranton Prep Intramural Bowling league bowls
on Thursdays from 3:30pm until approximately 5:30. The league
is conducted at Southside Bowl on South Washington Avenue in Scranton.
Transportation in private cars can be arranged for students needing
rides. The cost of the program is a weekly fee for the cost of
bowling and a small fee for a trophy fund (Approximately $5 –
$6 per week.)
The first three Thursdays in November, prior
to Thanksgiving, are used to establish averages and set up teams
and divisions. League bowling commences the first Thursday after
Thanksgiving vacation and bowls every Thursday when school is
in session until the end of February. Any bowler who chooses to
participate in the league is expected to complete the league.
The first Thursday in March begins March Madness, the all-season
single elimination tournament that decides the championship for
the year. The tournament concludes before Easter vacation.
Full information on the league with sign-up sheets
and parental consent forms will be available at the main office
prior to the beginning of the league. For more information, please
contact Mr. Hank Hewitt at the Admissions Office.
