“The objective of Jesuit education is to form men and women for the service of others in the world community of the 21st century.”1 Scranton Prep’s four-year service program educates students, through service work and reflection, about the needs of others and each individual’s obligation to serve those in need and to work toward a just society. In all four years students fulfill a curricular service requirement. Freshmen complete a minimum of ten hours of service. Sophomores and juniors complete a minimum of twenty hours, and seniors complete at least fifty hours of service. Scranton Prep offers summer opportunities for students between their junior and senior year. These opportunities give students a chance to serve the disadvantaged in the local community as well as in other communities in this country and in Mexico.
